What draws us together?

Posted on Jul 9th, 2008 by Nick : Learning Nick
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for July 09, 2008:

Searching for that silver bullet.

The one thing that will make us happy forever. In my life I have wasted too much time searching and not enough time enjoying each breath we are given.

How do you feel about being paid for your work?

Posted on Oct 30th, 2007 by Nick : Learning Nick
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for October 29, 2007:

Greed and its consequences.
This may be a little off topic, but I will stick in here anyway. I copied this statement from  a person sounding off on a different site.

"Health Care is quickly going downhill in accessibility and
quality and his last years have been very disturbing and disheartening
as hospitals all over the country, in order to keep afloat,
cut huge corners , exclude poorer people from the best care, do
shady billing, and push their employees to do procedures that make
money whether they are needed by the patient or not, in order to make
money they are losing with govt cutbacks in health care spending and
increases in Insurance Company profits.

The very shady things they are doing, for how badly they are treating all their staff at all levels and how much they have inflated their own salaries at the expense of
those doing the work. They are cheating at every level possible"

My questions are, should we teach about greed in our schools?
Whom are we trying to keep this planet green for?

Are you more proud of your accomplishments or your character?

Posted on Sep 24th, 2007 by Nick : Learning Nick
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for September 24, 2007:

Some accomplishments build character, I have been involved in Big brothers & Big sisters about 4-5 yrs. our children are gone from the house doing their own thing. My current young boy is 13, his dad past away about a year ago. I bring this up, to possible inspire others to get involved, and also make aware of what is out there for single parents. I can say to you, it is a win win situation.

What's your favorite daily ritual?

Posted on Sep 5th, 2007 by Nick : Learning Nick
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for September 05, 2007:

This may be off message, however, it is what popped into my head. I use the word habit, as apposed to ritual because there is nothing symbolic or traditional in what I like to do daily. Just waking up, would be a good answer, if I did not have an emotional experience about it. My aunt shared with me about my uncle, dieing of cancer. She could hear him saying when he would wake up, saying oh no not another day. Why that thought is prevalent in my memory bank, I really do not know, I have no self guilt about what happened.
